Lizard

Lizard is a hosting platform designed for AI coding agents to deploy to. The workflow it is built around is not a human clicking through a dashboard wizard — it is Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor running lizard up, reading machine-readable logs when a deploy fails, fixing the problem, and shipping again. Postgres, Redis, and S3-compatible storage are each one command away. Two design choices stand out from the usual platform-as-a-service formula. The build tool, lizardpack, writes an actual multi-stage Dockerfile you can read and take to another platform — not an opaque build plan that locks you in. And billing is per second of measured CPU and memory, with $5 of free credit and no card required for the first month. Railway, Render, and Fly will run the same containers; Lizard's claimed difference is the contract with the agent — typed CLI output, readable build artifacts, and restore for deleted services.

  • Agent-first CLI: npm i -g @lizard-build/cli, then lizard up. Output is for the model, not a pretty TTY.
  • Readable builds: lizardpack emits a multi-stage Dockerfile you can take elsewhere. Not an opaque BuildKit plan.
  • The dashboard is a workspace: services, vCPU, logs, “+ New Service” — the screenshot is the product, not a metaphor.
  • Per-second billing: $5 free credit, no card. They claim idle costs a fraction of reserved boxes. Verify on your own traffic.

TMRW VERDICT

Railway, if the customer is the agent

by TMRW Team·Aug 31, 2026

Lizard is the first host we have opened that treats the coding agent, not the human, as the primary user — and given who actually runs deploys in 2026, that is a bet worth taking seriously. The dashboard exists for you to watch. The CLI exists for the agent to work. Every design choice we could verify from the outside follows that split.

What we can say from the public product: the CLI is the real interface, the Dockerfile is an artifact you can leave with — a rare anti-lock-in gesture in this category — idle time bills per second, and the workspace preview is specific enough to suggest a real product rather than a landing page. What we cannot say is how it behaves when a build breaks at 2 a.m., because we have not shipped anything on it.

That is also why there is no star rating here. Scoring a deployment platform from its homepage would be grading marketing. When we have run lizard up against a real repository and watched an agent recover from a failed deploy, this listing gets a number — or gets unlisted.

If you already think in Railway services and like a human-first dashboard, stay put. Skip Lizard if you need Vercel for a marketing site, or if SOC 2 is your first question — that is their Enterprise tier and we did not evaluate it. If Claude Code is the one shipping your side project, spend the $5 free credit on a throwaway repo before you move anything with customers on it.
